How exciting that The Travel Sorority has been nominated for a Liebster Award. However big or small you always feel like a bit of a rock star or Hollywood actress when you are nominated for an 'Award' oooohhhhh, how fancy!
A lot has happened since my last post reviewing 48 hours in Sydney, so let’s catch up, here is what I have been up to…what I have learnt along the way…and what I think some of you may find helpful or interesting at one point or another.
I can’t believe this year has come to an end. The last 12 months have been some of the most exciting, insightful and influential of my life (so far) and this is due to the fact that last January I decided to take a leap of faith and finally travel for an extended period of time.…solo.
Travel gives you the same thing you received every time you faced a big change, the opportunity to make new choices. The chance to re-invent yourself without judgment or prejudice. It opens up the gates to a new playground and reminds you that the world stretches far beyond the borders of your comfort zone.
I am currently flying somewhere above a place called Karaganda - Call me ignorant but I have never heard of it before. All I know (thanks to the onboard Interactive screen) is that it is 4496 Km from Hong Kong.
I seem to do a lot of thinking when I put my make up on in the morning…probably because it takes me a long time to achieve the ‘I woke up like this’ look. This morning, somewhere between foundation and concealer the reality of the situation finally sank in - I am leaving, today, to fly across the world and I don’t know when I am coming back.
Less than a month to departure and the niggling fears are starting to slither their way in. Instead of just ignoring them, I thought it would be interesting and helpful to write them down and review them at a later date (once potentially having faced a few).
