About: Creative biologist, who rarely travels without runners and an electrical toothbrush.
Why did you decide to travel? It was my plan since I was a teenager, but I always thought it was too much effort in organizing. After finishing my studies, breaking up with my boyfriend and much more, I was a bit sick of everything. This was the point of NOW or NEVER. I went for NOW. Best decision ever!
Where do you come from? I am from Germany, close to Dresden.
Where do you want to go next? I am absolutely not sure. The more people you meet during your travels the more exciting places you want to visit. But after spending two years in Australia I would like to see my family and friends back home first.
What is your number one tip for travelling? Stop planning too much in advance (said by a German!). It's wasted time.
What has been your biggest challenge to overcome? Crossing roads without fear, using private lawns as pathways and trying to keep my belongings (not loosing/forgetting too many things when moving from hostel to hostel).
What do you miss about home? Of course family, friends and decent bread, more over handcrafting and German Biergarten.
What have you learnt about yourself? I didn't expect that I could feel happy and comfi with only very basic, simple and in general less things.
Favourite Quote? "Twenty years from now you'll be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than by the ones you did do"
Favourite new thing? Writing a diary, new addiction to scuba diving and prawns, but please no beef jerky!
What advice would you give to other girls wanting to travel? There's no reason to be scared! Of course there will be moments where you think "Hell, wtf am I doing here?", but instead of giving up, keep trying. And never think too much in advance about what may go wrong. Everything will be fine and there's always help.
