Sister Story - Rachael

Name: Rachael

Age: 26

About: I have a big case of the travel bug and am currently saving up and planning my next trip.

Why did you decide to travel? Since I was a teenager I had always dreamed of travelling Australia, when I was 24 I thought it was about time I put those dreams into action.

Where do you come from? Bolton, England Where do you want to go next? New Zealand and back to Australia to do the West coast and Great Ocean Road.

What is your number one tip for travelling? Always do what is best for you, even if it means splitting off from your friends for a little while to do your own thing, it's something you have to do to get the best out of your trip.

What has been your biggest challenge to overcome? Getting used to living in hostels in dorm rooms with shared bathrooms and some questionable kitchens. I have become good at picking a good cheap hostel though.

What do you miss about home? My family and close friends, it must of been so hard travelling in the past with no internet. FaceTime is a blessing. I Also miss homely food.

What have you learnt about yourself? I didn't realise how independent I was or could be and of course that grows the more you travel.

Favourite Quote? Shine until tomorrow Favourite new thing? (i.e. food you have tried, skill, tradition, place) I did a sky dive at Mission beach in Australia, that feeling will stay with me forever. And surfing I LOVE surfing.

What advice would you give to other girls wanting to travel? Do it! Even if you are nervous about doing it, you will find a way, you will meet amazing people very easily and you will have the time of your life. Be you and follow your instincts. Oh and pack as light as you possibly can.
