Name: Astrid Emma
About: 23 year old horse lover who is eager to travel and experience new things.
Why did you decide to travel? I was in a situation back home where I had no idea what to do next. In a bit of impulsivity I applied for the working holiday visa for Australia and here I am, still traveling over two years later.
Where do you come from? Sweden, and that will always be my first home, even though I've had quite a few ones after that ;)
Where do you want to go next? I really really want to go to Central Asia, like Mongolia and Kyrgyzstan.
What is your number one tip for travelling? Do it, even if it's scary sometimes, just dare to do it. You will gain so much for yourself and see all these amazing parts of the world and meet all these interesting people from across the globe! And try the local food in the country you go to. Who knows, maybe that bowl of noodles with duck that you bought from an old lady with a food cart in an ally, behind a corner next to a main street in Ho Chi Minh city will be one of the best meals in your life!
What has been your biggest challenge to overcome? I'm very bad at taking decisions, so to actually be on my own and be the only one to decide what to do has been pretty challenging sometimes.
What do you miss about home? Friends, family and my wardrobe!
What have you learnt about yourself? That I am actually pretty brave, and that I loooove the hot weather (never experienced that before)
Favourite Quote? If you wait until you're ready, you'll end up waiting your whole life
Favourite new thing? (i.e. food you have tried, skill, tradition, place) I learned to dive in Thailand, and since then I've been absolutely in love with the world beneath the oceans surface.
What advice would you give to other girls wanting to travel? The though of traveling on your own is a bit intimidating, but that makes it even more exiting. Do it, and remember that you won't be alone, there are loads of other people out there to meet!
